São Luís is the capital of the state of Maranhão in Brazil, located on the north coast of the country.
Known for its impressive Portuguese colonial architecture, the city is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Some of its tourist attractions are the Historic Center of the city, the Palace of the Lions, Praça Dom Pedro II and the Sacred Art Museum.
It is also famous for its beaches and for being the gateway to the Lençóis Maranhenses, an impressive national park of dunes and lagoons.
